Study links kindergarten social skills to success in adulthood
Children who were helpful and shared in kindergarten had increased odds of finishing their
college education and having full-time jobs by age 25, compared with those who had problems
cooperating and resolving conflicts. The findings in the American Journal of Public Health,
based on teacher evaluations of 800 youths followed for 25 years, also showed every one-point
increase in social competency score doubled the odds of obtaining a college degree.
